Graphic Design Research: Novum - World of Graphic Design

Once we had looked at other existing college magazine publications, we then moved on to look at graphic design magazines that would give us inspiration to make the layout and style of our final design unique and eye catching.

We thought this piece of graphic work was affective, as the layout is not like the standard conventional contents page; it’s different but is still clear and readable. The images going across the page break up the text and the striking colours are eye catching and they set the structure of the page.

The block colour design is affective but by using less vibrant colours it is not over powering to the eye. It would make a good backdrop to a page of text. The picture is also split from the text but the reader can get a clear view of it as it stands alone.

The design on the ice cream tub is what attracted our eye when looking at this design. The artwork is quirky, vibrant and we like the embossed effect of the badges. This affect could be used on the contents page and for page headings.

When we came across the last image we thought it was different, could be eye catching and used to represent something. We may use this image for a student voice section or the backdrop for an advertisement.
